The Fondazione Museo Montelupo Onlus with office in Montelupo Fiorentino, Museo della Ceramica (Ceramics Museum), Piazza Vittorio Veneto, 11, 50056 (FI) Italy, is sponsoring an international competition for the creation of ceramics works in the following categories:
A) Tableware: the creation of a prototype of a utilitarian item intended for production by the ceramics factories. The development of a dinner plate prototype, understood as a ceramics item intended to contain and/or present on the table, food or foodstuffs for human consumption of any kind whatsoever, without the accompaniment of additional devices for heating or cooling the food. While the item in question can be made in different materials, provided compatible with the hygiene standards governing food for human consumption, it must foresee the majority use (that is, extended to more than 50% of the surfaces) of ceramics. The term “ceramics” is understood here in the broadest sense, and namely, as a product “deriving from the firing or processing of clay”, without the preclusion of any manufacturing methods. The item may be either devoid of decoration or decorated by means of the most varied methods, also including patterns and/or elements in relief, provided they also comply with the aforementioned hygiene standards.
